About PIDA |
| The Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association ( PIDA ) is a non-profit organization working with private enterprises and government agencies to increase the competitiveness of Taiwan's optoelectronics industry. PIDA actively engages in industry research, conference, exhibition, membership service, international cooperation, and producing publications for the optoelectronics industry. The association has been organizing OPTO Taiwan exposition since 1984. Now PIDA is the organizer of the big event - Photonics Festival in Taiwan, comprising of exhibitions and conferences of OPTO Taiwan, LED Lighting Taiwan, OPTICS Taiwan, Solar Taiwan and Display Taiwan. |

Introduction |
| The Photonics Industry and Technology Development Association ( PIDA ) was established by the 'Father of Photonics in Taiwan', Dr. Peter Shih, in 1983 at a time when the industry was truly in its infancy. Initially, with support from the Taiwanese government, PIDA was given the mission of providing research, analysis and marketing services for local startups in the photonics industry. These days, PIDA's activities have expanded to include five main areas : industry & market research, exhibitions, conferences membership service s and publications. With Taiwan at the forefront internationally in so many aspects of photonics, it is PIDA's continuous mission to always be a step ahead in providing their essential services for such a fast-moving industry. With up to 200,000 people in Taiwan ( around 9% of the total population ) employed directly or indirectly in local photonics industries, Taiwan is one of the few places in the world where the word 'photonics' has truly become a household name. PIDA's dedication ensures the ongoing success and contentment of many people in Taiwan. |

Current Activities |
1. Industry & Market Research
PIDA's large team of professional analysts continually monitor all manner of vital statistical information relating to all aspects of the local and international photonics industries. In depth reporting is provided to members, research institutes as well as to the Taiwanese government. For this work, PIDA, is the trusted name in providing accurate and well-considered reports.
2. Exhibitions
Under the umbrella of the 'Photonics Festival in Taiwan', PIDA has successfully staged concurrent exhibitions every year at the Taipei World Trade Center. These expositions include : OPTO Taiwan, LED Lighting Taiwan, OPTICS Taiwan, SOLAR Taiwan as well as the Display Taiwan show. A total of more than 31,000 visitors attended the 2008 events to see 525 companies from more than fifteen countries in more than 1,300 booths. The Photonics Festival in Taiwan is now held every year just a few days after the world-famous 'Computex Taipei' show makes every June the 'High-Tech' month in Taipei.
3. Conferences and Seminars
PIDA has been the leading photonics conference and seminar organizer in Taiwan for over a decade. PIDA organized over hundred conferences on topics of market dynamic and latest technology development in field of LED, PV, FPD, Optics, etc. Local and international academics, research specialists as well as business leaders were very well-received and the synergies created continue to influence everyday photonics life. PIDA were proud to have international speakers from countries such as : Japan, Korea, China, U.S.A, and Germany etc.
4. Membership Services
Being a member of PIDA means that your company will be provided, often on a weekly-basis, with all of the latest information needed to make important marketing and expansion decisions. Members receive many benefits, such as : the latest photoelectric news, Industry research reports, consulting service, seminar discount, and exclusive promotion channel.
